Lucknow: UP Board Class 10th Result 2020: The Uttar Pradesh Board has released the result for over 52 lakh students who registered for the class 10 and class 12 exams today. Anurag Malik tops the class 12 exam with 97 per cent marks. The second rank is secured by Pranjal Singh and the third rank by Utkarsh Shukla. Riya Jain has secured rank 1 in high school exams. Last year’s topper Tanu Tommar continues to be the highest score in UP Board class 12 exams in recent years with 97.8 per cent marks.

The toppers for both the examinations have emerged from the same school in Wester Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district. This year, in class 10, as many as 33 students have secured under the top 10 positions. Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma has announced that the toppers will get Rs 1 lakh cash along with a laptop for each. Keeping up with the usual trend, this year too, girls outperformed boys in both high school and intermediate exams. The pass percentage of girls in class 10 is 83.31 while it is 81.96 per cent for class 12. This is higher than the total pass percentage of 83.31 per cent and 74.64 per cent for class 10 and class 12 respectively.

In the comparison between boys and girls in class 10 examination, girls have fared better with a pass percentage of 87.29 per cent, while boys managed 79.88 per cent. In the class 12 comparison, the pass percentage for boys was 68.88 per cent, while for girls it was 81.96 per cent. Overall, this year’s result is better than that of last year. In class 12, 74.64 per cent students cleared the exam. This is higher than last year when 70.2 per cent cleared the exam. In class 10, as many as 83.31 per cent of students passed the exam. This is higher than last year when 80.07 per cent students cleared the exam. A total of 30,24,480 students appeared for the class 10 examination, while 25,86,339 students appeared for the class 12 examination. Last year, Muzaffarnagar registered the best result in UP Board class 10 high school exam with 91.80 per cent pass percentage and Lucknow was top performing district for class 12.

Those who are not happy with their results can apply for re-evaluation. Last year, UP Board hiked their fee for re-calculation, re-evaluation etc by five times and became of the costliest boards in this regard. As per the latest rules, to get one subject paper reevaluated, candidates will have to pay Rs 500 instead of Rs 100 earlier. With this, the UP Board’s reevaluation procedure is the costliest in the country.

This year, class 12 students will have the option to appear for the compartmental exam, in case they have failed in one or two exams. This was earlier available only for the class 10 students. Those who clear the compartmental exams will be deemed passed, however, students who fail in all subjects will not get a chance in form of compartmental exam.
