Babri verdict: All 32 accused including LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti acquitted by a CBI court

Charges were framed against 48 people, but 16 had died during the course of the trial. The 32 accused persons include former deputy prime minister Advani, former Union minister Joshi and Uma Bharti, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh, during whose tenure the structure was pulled down, besides Vinay Katiyar and Sadhvi Rithambara.

All 32 accused including BJP leaders LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti have been acquitted by a special special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Lucknow on Wednesday in a almost Thirty year old Babri Masjid Demolition case.

The court said that there was no conclusive proof against the accused. The court also said that the demolition of the Babri mosque on Ayodhya on December 6, 1992, was not planned and involved "anti-social elements".

"The accused tried to stop the demolition," said special CBI judge SK Yadav, adding that the Hindu activists who tore down the 16th-century mosque were "anti-social elements".

Advani (92), Joshi (86), Bharti (61), Singh (88), Nritya Gopal Das and Satish Pradhan were not present in court.
