In a strange behavior by Uttar Pradesh government, the authorities have house-arrested the victims’ family in Unnao. Reportedly, the family members are not allowed to meet anybody or even come out of police security outside their house.

Two minor girls were found dead in a field in Uttar Pradesh`s Unnao last evening. A third girl who is also minor found with them is critical in hospital.

The girls, who were 16, 13 and 17 years old, had left home on Wednesday afternoon to get fodder for animals. When the girls, who were cousins, did not return home by late evening, the family started a search and found the girls lying in a field, unconscious.

They were taken to the hospital where the two younger girls were declared dead. The oldest was later taken to a hospital in Kanpur.

The bodies of the two girls have been sent for autopsy. Doctors have said symptoms appeared to be that of poisoning, according to police officials.

Six police teams have been formed to investigate what happened. A dog squad was also called to the spot.

Speaking to reporters, the brother said, “They had gone to the farm to collect grass. Today, they got late returning, so we went to look for them. We found them tied up, with clothes like their chunni.”

IG (Lucknow Range) Laxmi Singh said they were yet to confirm if the girls were tied up. “The brother has given a statement saying this, but we can’t say anything because the bodies were removed before the police reached the spot,” Singh said.
