UP contribution to India`s economy in past 6 years commendable: President Droupadi Murmu

LUCKNOW/NOIDA: Lauding UP for becoming the fastest growing economy in the country, President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday said that the states resolve to take its economy to USD 1 trillion dollars will play a significant role in India achieving the goal of a USD 5 trillion economy.She was speaking after inaugurating the first edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show in Greater Noida in the presence of CM Yogi Adityanath."UP has made a special contribution to the economic development of the country over the last over six years. The GDP of UP has increased from Rs 13 lakh crore in 2016-17 to Rs 22 lakh crore. This achievement of economic growth is undoubtedly commendable. In recent years, UP has taken new steps in the field of economic development and investment," she said.Prez lauds CM, team for putting up a great showThe President added that as a result of simplifying investment and ease of doing business and accelerating infrastructure development, UP has today become the fastest growing economy in the country. Speaking on Trade fair, she said: I congratulate all the participants of the UP International Trade Show. This dedicated initiative to showcase the products of UP both within the country and on the international stage is truly commendable. My sincere appreciation goes out to the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and his dedicated team, she said. She said that the event, with participation of 2,000 manufacturers, brought together not just established industrial giants but also upcoming entrepreneurs and representatives from various embassies. This, she said, will play a crucial role in promoting the states products on a global platform Praising the state for the MSME eco-system that had been developed to help small businesses, the President said that with 96 lakh MSME units, UP had the most number of such units in the country. Despite being a landlocked state, the states exports were continuously increasing. The states exports have increased from Rs 88,000 crore in 2017-18 to Rs 1.75 lakh crore. This is the result of the hard work and ability of the entrepreneurs of the state, she said. Highlighting importance of the One District One Product scheme, she called it a highly commendable scheme. She said that along with handicrafts, young entrepreneurs of the state, especially women entrepreneurs, were showcasing their products at the fair. She appreciated participation of women, saying it was good that their role in entrepreneurship was increasing. However, it still needs to be increased further. The display of 54 GI products from the state is also being presented at this trade show. I appreciate presenting such products to buyers from India and abroad, she said. The President appreciated the organisation of G20 conference events in the state, referring to meetings held in Agra, Lucknow, Varanasi and Greater Noida. G20 accounts for 85% of the worlds total GDP and 75% of trade. I am confident that the UP International Trade Show will advance our national and international priorities in line with the goals of the G20, the President said.
