Unrecognised schools in Uttar Pradesh to face Rs 1 lakh fine

LUCKNOW: Unrecognised schools will now have to face the music as the state government has decided to impose a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh, besides legal action, against such institutions.An extensive campaign will be launched across the state till October 10 to identify such schools. Initially, these schools will have to pay a penalty of Rs 1 lakh and if the violation continues, a fine of Rs 10,000 per day will be imposed. Director, basic education, Mahendra Dev has asked all basic education officers to initiate the campaign and act tough against defaulters. Block education officers have been directed to submit a list of illegal schools operating in the state along with proper evidence to support their findings.
