UP STF arrests Abdul Samad alias Saddam, gang member of slain don Atiq Ahmed, from Delhi

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) on Thursday arrested Abdul Samad alias Saddam (29), an active member of slain don Atiq Ahmeds gang, from Delhi on Thursday.Caught on cam: The moment when unidentified attackers shot dead Atiq Ahmad and his brotherThe accused was carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh for any information leading to his arrest. Abdul is from Paramufti in Prayagraj and is also the brother-in-law of slain don Ashraf. He has been named in seven cases since 2015.Atiq Ahmed killers: What we know so far about themSpecial DG, Law and Order, Prashant Kumar, said that Abdul was under surveillance and an informer disclosed his location at DDA Flats opposite Select City Walk Mall in Malviya Nagar, Delhi, to an STF unit. "A team reached and apprehended him," said Kumar.During interrogation, the accused disclosed that he had been changing his residence from place to place in Delhi, Karnataka and Mumbai to avoid arrest. He had come to meet his lover Anam in Delhi on Wednesday night when he was arrested."The accused was living in Khushboo Enclave in Bareilly district because his brother-in-law Ashraf was imprisoned in Bareilly jail. He was responsible for taking logistics to Ashraf in connivance with the jail staff," said the STF.Abdul Samad was responsible for keeping money given by his brother-in-law Ashrafs friends. In Bareilly, Lalla, along with Gaddi, Nazish, Syed Saheb and Furkan, used to earn money by interfering in disputed land, said the STF. Abdul also ran an extortion racket in the name of Ashraf, said the police.
