One case each of dengue and swine flu reported in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: One case of swine flu and one of dengue was reported from the city on Friday, taking the tally of persons affected with swine flu to 13 and with dengue to that of 16.A 36-year-old female doctor residing in one of the teacher's flat at King George's Medical University (KGMU) became the latest victim of swine flu. The woman though a resident of Ghaziabad, got fever and congestion on July 5 and July 6 after which she was tested at KGMU's virology lab and tested positive of swine flu. The woman had gone to Hardoi a few days back and had caught the infection in Lucknow itself. The CMO of Hardoi on Friday contacted CMO office in Lucknow informing the same, after which the woman was counted as the 16th patient of the vector borne disease from Lucknow. "Around 50 Tamiflu tablets have been sent for the patient's contacts at KGMU so that the infection can be prevented from spreading further.

The patient has been asked to be at home in isolation and not go to public places," said Dr GS Bajpai , chief medical officer (CMO), Lucknow district.On the other hand, a resident of Lucknow, another woman was informed to the health department as a case of dengue currently undergoing treatment in Hardoi. The woman had gone to Hardoi a few days back and had caught the infection in Lucknow itself. The CMO of Hardoi on Friday contacted CMO office in Lucknow informing the same, after which the woman was counted as the 16th patient of the vector borne disease from Lucknow.
