LUCKNOW: A day after NHRC issued notice to UP government on police encounters and sought a detailed report within six weeks, chief minister Aditya Nath Yogi , while addressing his third public meeting in Lucknow said that he had inherited a 'danga-grast pradesh' (riots-afflicted state) where 'gundaraaj' and corruption reigned supreme. "The 'nagariya kshetra' (urban local bodies) had converted into 'naarkiya kshetra' (a hell) in the last 15 years when BJP was out of power in state," he said."We want to free the state of crime and corruption," he said. The other speakers on the dais also pitched their speeches on poor law and order in previous government.Swati Singh, Sarojininagar MLA and minister, making a reference to SP leadership said, "Those who could not protect their own 'bahu' , how could they protect the women in state. The bahu had to leave election rally in Allahabad due to rowdy party workers".Hailing the efforts of Sarojininagar police, she said it is because of Yogi government's hard stand against crime that criminals like Salim and Sohrab are in jail and their shooter was killed in encounter.BJP state president Mahendra Nath Pandey said that corruption ran in families in the previous governments. "Mayawati's brother Anand Kumar, Chidambaram's son, Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law, Lalu's entire family, Mulayam and Akhilesh Yadav and their urban development minister had several corruption cases against them. But for Modiji and Yogiji people they govern are their families".With just two days to go for polling in Lucknow, CM Yogi addressed two public meetings on Thursday, one at LDA Colony, Kanpur Road and the other at Subhash Marg, Aminabad.CM has will address two meetings in city on Friday, at Convention Centre and Kapoorthala crossing. Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma also addressed public meetings at Thakurganj and Buddheshwar crossing on Thursday.
