Youth hit by speeding car, dies

Cops yet to identify driver who fled scene leaving car on Gill Road Ludhiana, March 19 A 24-year-old boy lost his life when a speeding car allegedly hit his bike on Gill Road on Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as Tarsem Singh of Bulara village. Though the police have recovered the car, they have failed to identify the accused even 24 hours after the accident. In his complaint, the deceased's brother, Tejinder Singh, said his critically injured younger brother was taken to Lord Mahavira Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, in an ambulance but he died on the way. "When a speeding car hit my brother's bike around 1:30 am on Sunday, my brother was tossed around 100 feet. Instead of paying attention to my critically injured brother, the car driver and his aide fled the spot leaving the car behind. There were two hospitals located near the accident spot. If somebody had timely shifted my brother to the hospital, his life could have been saved. The ambulance staff told that me that my brother passed away on the way to the Civil Hospital." "We want the police arrest the culprits at the earliest. Tarsem was in the business of repair work of dental chairs," he said. Tarsem's friends and kin are also running a campaign on the social media for early arrest of the occupants of the car that hit his bike. "The police have recovered the car. We have initiated investigation to identify the accused. They will be arrested soon. A case under Section 279, 304-A and 427, IPC, has been registered against unidentified accused," said Ranjit Singh, investigating officer.
