The incident took place when a team of Special Task Force (STF) from Ferozepur carried out a raid at New Razapur village in search of Lal Singh, whose name cropped during interrogation of an alleged drug peddler arrested by the force in Ferozepur two days ago. The STF had arrested Desa Singh and seized 40-gram heroin from him on Saturday. According to the police, during interrogation, the accused told the police that he had brought the drug from Lal Singh of New Razapur village near Ludhiana. “A team of Special Task Force from Ferozepur, accompanied by policemen from the Laddowal station, carried out a raid at New Razapur village and detained Lal Singh. As the police detained Lal Singh, more than one dozen persons, including women, attacked the police team and managed to free Lal Singh from police custody,” said the investigating officer, ASI Naresh Kumar.
