LUDHIANA: A drunk man thrashed his wife to death in Julfgarh village of Machhiwara early on Sunday. Police have arrested Santosh Kumar, 40, a labourer and native of Bihar , who confessed to have killed Geeta, 35, on the suspicion of infidelity. Santosh's employer, Davinder Singh , told the police, "I had employed Santosh a week ago to look after my fields. He, along with his wife and two kids, lived in a tube-well room on the fields.On Sunday morning when I went to the room to call Santosh, the door was bolted from outside. When I opened the door, I was shocked to see Geeta lying dead on the floor." Davinder immediately sounded the police. Machhiwara police station SHO inspector Surinder Pal Singh said, "Geeta worked as a help at Davinder's house and had told his family that Santosh, suspecting her of adultery, often assaulted her.On Saturday, too, in an inebriated condition he thrashed her that led to her death. Her body has injury marks." After committing the murder, Santosh locked Geeta's body in the tube-well room and fled with his two children. Two hours after being informed, police arrested Santosh near bus stop. Santosh had shifted to Machhiwara from Nawanshahr about 10 days ago.
