State taxation department surveys 6 firms

Senior officials of the department inspected the sale purchase records of all the firms along with calculating the stock in hand of all the firms inspected. LUDHIANA: Three days after the state taxation department impounded 23 vehicles carrying goods worth lakhs of rupees without e-way bill and imposed tax and penalty worth Rs. 28 lakh on the owners of the good, the investigation wing of the department on Monday conducted inspections at the six companies whom did the material belonged to. We have got some evidence pointing towards massive tax evasion by some of the firms which were inspected today and as the action is still on we will be able to disclose the findings once the probe is complete” The investigation in the case is still underway till the filing of the news and panic spread in Mandi Gobindgarh after the action by department and several other factory owners shut down their factories due to the apprehensions that the state taxation department sleuths may cover their premises as well.However, speaking to TOI about Monday's development, Joint Director Ghotra said, “Today’s action is the follow up of the seizure of goods during our surprise checking of vehicles done on Thursday and Friday.

The action which was held under instructions from additional excise and taxation commissioner Kumar Saurav Raj was conducted by different teams of department at premises of five companies based in Mandi Gobindgarh and one based at Khanna.Teams led by joint director of investigation wing, HPS Ghotra held the inspections at M/s Vardhman Adarsh ispat Private limited , M/s Samana ispat Private limited, M/s Baba steel industries, M/s Friends industries , M/s Jandu steel and agro industries, M/s Bharat ispat.
