Ahmedgarh MC sensitises sewer men on benefits of wearing kits

It has been noticed that sewer men had been working without adopting safety measures and entering manholes without wearing gears and safety kits. He said the MC was committed to take care of sewer men. Our CorrespondentAhmedgarh, 17 JuneThe civic body has launched a movement to sensitise scavengers and sewer men against risks of entering in manholes without wearing safety kits and adopting all safety measures. The movement was launched following reports of incidents in which the sewer men had been working unguarded that too without notice of their superiors. MC Executive Officer Gurdeep Singh Bhogal said required kits had been issued to sewer men on rolls, those working unguarded in the field said they did not have the equipment.

Our Correspondent Ahmedgarh, 17 June The civic body has launched a movement to sensitise scavengers and sewer men against risks of entering in manholes without wearing safety kits and adopting all safety measures. The movement was launched following reports of incidents in which the sewer men had been working unguarded that too without notice of their superiors. The authorities have also threatened to take actions against those officials who will force a sewer man to enter a manhole without adopting safety measures. It has been noticed that sewer men had been working without adopting safety measures and entering manholes without wearing gears and safety kits. MC Executive Officer Gurdeep Singh Bhogal said required kits had been issued to sewer men on rolls, those working unguarded in the field said they did not have the equipment. Recently a sewer-man Ashu was seen working in a choked manhole. Dipping limbs in dirty stinking sewerage and drains is normal phenomenon observed in the town. Chief Municipal Council Suraaj Mohammad said officials concerned at the civic body had already been advised to ensure that no sewer man enters manhole without wearing safety kits and adopting all safety measures. He said the MC was committed to take care of sewer men.
