Dr HK Verma, Director, Extension Education, said the university has been promoting livestock farming amongst youths, especially educated and unemployed as a mean of earning their livelihood. Dr SK Kansal, head, Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education, said pig farming has gained popularity in the state and they have been getting plenty of queries and applications for the same. A total of 94 candidates, including five female candidates participated in the workshop.

Dr Jaswinder Singh, who was technical coordinator said the trainees were apprised on various issues, including breeds, breeding, management, shed design, weather management, vaccination protocols, diseases and their prevention, value addition of pork, mycotoxins, economics etc.
