Two-day workshop on post-harvest techniques

Tribune News ServiceLudhiana, June 18The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) would organise a two-day training course on “Latest production and post-harvest techniques for fruit and vegetable Crops”, on June 21 and 22. He said trainees will also be apprised of post-harvest handling and processing of vegetable crops. Dr Mahal said vegetable science experts will highlight the scope of vegetable cultivation in Punjab, and production techniques in brinjal, tomato, peas, cucumber, potato and capsicum, he informed. Horticulture development officers, district extension specialists and scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK) would participate in the training course, to be held under the aegis of Directorate of Extension Education, PAU. Dr JS Mahal, Director of Extension Education said, “The fruit science experts will shed light on current status and future prospects of fruit cultivation, latest production technologies and research priorities for citrus cultivation, production technologies for higher yield and quality fruit production of temperate fruits in Punjab.” “Experts will also delve upon technologies for quality fruit production of mango and litchi, new technologies for disease management in fruit crops and techniques for enhancing shelf life of fruit crops,” he added.
