Ropar AAP MLA allegedly attacked by mining mafia in Nurpur Bedi

We are checking whether any mining was being done here in Beinhara village. The mafia was earlier attacking the officials and now they haven’t spared the legislators.

PATIALA: Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Ropar Amarjit Singh Sandoa was allegedly attacked by the mining mafia on Thursday morning along with his gunmen.According to the information, the legislator had allegedly gone to the Beinhara village of Nurpur Bedi subdivision of the district on Thursday along with his gunmen and some local media personnel to expose the illegal mining activity.AAP leader Kultar Singh claimed that a few days back he along with the legislator Sandoa had attended a late-night function in a village of Nangal division in the district and on their return they witnessed the illegal mining being done. He claimed that few complaints from the local villagers were also received following which MLA Sandoa decided to conduct a raid and expose the illegal mining.“Sandoa had dared to visit the spot and expose the illegal mining in the Beinhara village that is situated on the border of Nangal and Nurpur Bedi divisions. The mining mafia attacked Sandoa and his gunmen following which he faced severe injuries on the head and other body parts. He was rushed to local hospital in Anandpur Sahib from where he was referred for PGI Chandigarh”, said, AAP leader Kultar Singh.Ropar SSP, Raj Bachan Singh Sandhu, claimed that probe in the matter was on and he was on the way to meet the legislator Sandoa. He added that law will take its own course and after recording the statements the case will be registered against the accused. He added that the police were not informed about the raid being conducted by the MLA otherwise the police could have assisted him.Meanwhile, Station House Officer Nurpur Bedi, Des Raj said, “The car of MLA was stranded here in the Beinhara village as he abandoned his car after he was allegedly attacked by some people. Near to Beinhara village is Harsawela village where the mining is being done with the permission of authorities. We are checking whether any mining was being done here in Beinhara village. No arrests have been made yet in the case”.AAP leader Dr Balbir Singh, “This is a complete lawlessness when even legislators are not safe. The mafia was earlier attacking the officials and now they haven’t spared the legislators. It shows they have the full support of the government. We are going to launch a crusade against the mining mafia and we are not afraid of anyone.”
