Pradeep Aggarwal distributes 1200 saplings among govt officials

LUDHIANA: Under the state government’s mission ‘Tandrust Punjab’, district administration on Wednesday started an initiative to make Ludhiana greener. Led by deputy commissioner Pradeep Aggarwal 1,200 saplings were distributed among the officials and staff working in various departments of administration, Aggarwal asked everyone to adopt the saplings given to them and ensure its growth.Speaking on the occasion, Aggarwal said, “We have asked all the officials and staff members to plant at least one sapling each and if anyone requires more saplings, he can get them from the forest department. Moringa is also helpful in making close to 300 types of Ayurvedic medicines as the leaves, fruits and roots of this plant are useful for human health. Today, we have distributed 1,200 saplings, while 5,000 saplings have been kept as standby with the forest department to distribute them to the interested persons.” Considering the monsoon season, which is the most appropriate time for planting trees, not only the state government officials, but the residents should also come forward and plant as many trees as they can, so that we can achieve the goal of making our surroundings clean and green, DC added.The saplings distributed today were of Moringa which according to forest officials is highly rich in Calcium, Vitamin C , Potassium and Iron.
