Close shave for businessman as two assailants fire at him

LUDHIANA: Panic gripped Palm City of Jamalpur on Thursday evening, when two bike-borne assailants opened fire at a businessman , who had a close shave as the bullet whizzed past his ear. As soon as Deepak turned towards him, the man opened fire at him, but he had a narrow escape. Hearing the gunshot, people huddled to the spot and sounded the police.According to information, Deepak Kumar (36) of Sector 32 used to go to Palm City with his friends to play cricket. In-charge of Ramgarh police post, ASI Harbhajan Singh, said the police were recording Deepak’s statement. On being informed, Ramgarh police rushed to the spot.

On Thursday evening around 7pm, when Deepak was playing cricket in the ground, two bike-borne assailants (one of them wearing a turban) struck there.Deepak said the turbaned man was on the pillion, who called him by his name. As soon as Deepak turned towards him, the man opened fire at him, but he had a narrow escape. On being informed, Ramgarh police rushed to the spot. In-charge of Ramgarh police post, ASI Harbhajan Singh, said the police were recording Deepak’s statement. Besides, CCTVs installed in the area were also being scanned.
