Locked in house for 10 days, elderly blind woman rescued

LUDHIANA: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) on Thursday rescued an elderly blind woman who had been kept in a locked house by her daughter for the past 10 days.The daughter of the elderly woman told DLSA team that she had locked her in the house as she had to go attend to her ailing husband in a hospital.DLSA secretary Gurpreet Kaur said at 2 pm on Thursday, they got a call from social activist Gurpreet Singh who told them that Karishna Dasi, a woman aged about 100 years, has been locked inside a house in Gujjarwal for the past 10 days and they should rescue her.She added that she met DLSA chairman-cum-district and sessions judge Gurbir Singh to seek his guidance on the matter and later they constituted a team comprising advocate Harsimrat Kaur and para legal workers.“Afterwards, we took a police team comprising sub-inspector Ramanpreet Singh and head constable Harpreet Singh from Jodhan Police station with us.
