Two arrested with Rs 3 crore heroin

LUDHIANA: The Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two men with 600g heroin , worth Rs 3 crore, on Thursday.The accused have been identified as Sukhpreet Singh, 34, of Chhawni Mohalla and Vinay Kalra, 30, of Bhagwan Das Colony. The police have also seized a scooter on which they were smuggling drugs.Sub-inspector Harbans Singh, in-charge, STF Ludhiana, said the police arrested the duo from Basti Jodhewal Chowk following a tip-off. The police recovered 600g heroin from their possession.The accused informed that they had procured heroin from a man named Raja, who had delivered the consignment near Buddhan Nullah bridge in Salem Tabri.The official shared that Sukhpreet Singh ran a fastfood cart, while Vinay Kalra works at a salon. They were crossing the area when police stopped them for checking. The accused themselves are drug addicts and started peddling drugs to meet their requirement, police said.A case under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the duo at Daresi police station.
