LUDHIANA: In a surprise move, a team from Kolkata investigation wing of the income tax department on Friday conducted a survey at the residence of a prominent city-based chartered accountant located near Dandi Swami Chowk.While the exact reason behind the move is still unknown, the sources have said that the surprise check was conducted in connection with one of CA’s clients whose house was raided recently by the I-T investigation wing in Kolkata.The unexpected survey has caught everyone’s eye, including the local I-T department.The CA in question is the chairman of Northern India Regional Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.Meanwhile, the officials of the local I-T department are tight-lipped about the action.When contacted, a high-rank official refused to share any details of the matter, but said that local offices of the department do not have any connection with the survey as it has been executed by a team from Kolkata.
