PATIALA: Police have arrested a woman and her husband for allegedly murdering her nine-month-old son from her former husband.According to the reports, the child was strangulated and his body was dumped in Bhakhra canal.Patran police station in-charge Ranbir Singh claimed that Manisha (22), the mother of the child, and his step father Harvinder Singh (37) have been arrested and they have confessed to their crime.Police said the matter came to the light when Harwinder's neighbour Vicky Singh informed police about the crime.The police added that after the complainant informed about the missing of the child, the accused were rounded up and they confessed to having killed him during questioning.Police revealed that the woman had abandoned her first husband and had married Harwinder, a driver by profession. She came into his contact over the phone and they both planned to get married in June this year. Police revealed that the child was out of Manisha’s first marriage and the accused Harwinder did not want him.The complainant told the police that accused introduced the child to him a few days ago and had then claimed that he would kill him.“The couple confessed that they strangulated the child using a piece of cloth on June 24 and dumped his body in Bhakhra main line canal at Khanauri,” said the police adding that the body of the child was yet to be recovered.
