STF arrests pharmacist, transport manager with intoxicating pills worth Rs 2.13 crore

LUDHIANA: In joint mission the Special Task Force (STF) sleuths of Ludhiana and Jalandhar police have recovered 28,88,348 intoxicating pills, capsules, injections and cough syrups that worth Rs 2.13 crore.

LUDHIANA: In joint mission the Special Task Force (STF) sleuths of Ludhiana and Jalandhar police have recovered 28,88,348 intoxicating pills, capsules, injections and cough syrups that worth Rs 2.13 crore. The recovery has been made from a city based pharmacist and godown of a transport company. The police have also recovered Rs 6 lakh drug money from the pharmacist.Importantly the STF officials are suspecting the accused to mix some other drugs in these tablets. To ascertain this, the samples of recovered pill have been sent to laboratory for testing.The arrested accused are pharmacist Manindervir Singh, 37, of New Patel Nagar of Haibowal kalan and manager of JSK Logistic Transport, Transport Nagar Surinder Kumar, 32, of district Hoshiarpur The Inspector General - STF, Punjab Pramod Ban told that Manindervir was active for past two years. He owns a pharmacy on Chuhurpur road in Haibowal however would not earn much. To make easy money, through some person he got in touch with a Agra based man who supplied him intoxicating pills. With the help of an Agra based and Ludhiana based transport companies Manindervir procured these pills. He used to sell it further across the state.IG Ban said, "Following a tip-off the Ludhiana and Jalandhar STF conducted a joint mission. The team established a checkpoint at Chuhurpur road in Haibowal and stopped an Innova car that Manindervir was driving. On frisking the team recovered 4,80,000 intoxicating pills and Rs 6 lakh drug money. On further questioning after the arrested Manindervir, police raided his house and recovered 13 different types of intoxicating pills, capsules, injections and cough syrups. The total recovery was 21,58,348."On further information provided by Manindervir the STF teams raided JSK Transport Company and recovered 2,50,000 intoxicating tablets from its godown.The official said, "All these tablets can only be sold with prescription. Manindervir used to procure these pills though a middleman Naval Kishor, of Agra from a Agra based pharmaceutical company. Naval Kishor would send these pills through Agra based Jodhpur Golden Transport Company to JSK Transport Company in Ludhiana. Moreover the accused supplied the pills without documents and shockingly never get nabbed."Further AIG Sanehdeep Sharma and AIG Mukhwinder Bhullar told that the accused has never kept the intoxicating pills at his pharmacy. He has built a store room on the first floor of his house where he used to keep the cartons of pills. From there he used to supply the pills among his customers across the state.Further IG Pramod Ban said further the owners of Agra based pharmaceutical company and transport company will be take n in custody for questioning.
