Ludhiana: I-T employees to boycott income tax day, not to take part in survey and search ops from Aug 1

Income tax day that falls on July 24 will be boycotted and on September 12, one day strike will be observed.” It seems that board is deliberately avoiding to take any steps for resolution of our problems and therefore, we were forced to take these steps. This year, the target has been set for Rs 11,00,000 crores, which can be achieved as well provided that the all wings of department work together and CBDT ensures that all officers, employees of department get their promotions, basic entitlements and other benefits on time. However, to ensure that the taxpayers do not face any problems, JCA has decided to start the second phase of the agitation from July 23 under which from August 1, no member of JCA will take part in any departmental action including search and survey. LUDHIANA: Up in arms against Central Board of Direct Taxes ( CBDT ) for not fulfilling their demands, the Joint Council of Action ( JCI ), comprising members of Income Tax Employees Federation (ITEF) and Income Tax Gazetted Officers Association (ITGOA), has decided to boycott the income tax day on July 24.Besides, the employees have also decided not to take part in any survey or search operation to be conducted by the department from August 1.Giving more information, income tax officer (ITO) Rajeev Puri, who is the secretary of ITGOA, Ludhiana said, “Along with higher officials, ITOs, inspectors and other employees of I-T department have played a pivotal role in taking collections above Rs 10,00,000 crores. Unfortunately, because of the indifferent attitude of CBDT, the officers and employees of the I-T department are on path of agitation from past two months.”Puri further added, “Some of the major demands that were not fulfilled by CBDT include non filling of vacant posts, taking no initiative for promotion of eligible candidates to the post of assistant commissioners and no improvements in the software of department. It seems that board is deliberately avoiding to take any steps for resolution of our problems and therefore, we were forced to take these steps. However, to ensure that the taxpayers do not face any problems, JCA has decided to start the second phase of the agitation from July 23 under which from August 1, no member of JCA will take part in any departmental action including search and survey.
