LUDHIANA: The murder of a railway employee Kuldeep Kumar, who was found with his throat slit at his house in Ajit Nagar area of Haibowal on Friday, was planned by his wife, daughter and her lover.The police have arrested the trio- identified as Geeta Sharma, Kumar's wife, his daughter Sudeeksha (20), a college student and her lover Tarun Tejpal (21). Tarun Tejpal further hired Sagar, a habitual criminal, who along with his three accomplices executed the crime.The trio had hired the four men to murder Kuldeep for Rs 2.5 lakh.Importantly, the daughter and his lover - both undergraduate students, are the mastermind of the murder. The girl convinced her mother to kill Kuldeep after falsely accusing him of molesting her.On Thursday, Kuldeep (43), a helper in electronics wing at Ludhiana Railway station, was found dead at his house. His wife Geeta called the police at around 6am stating that some miscreants barged into the house and killed her husband. To give it a color of theft she told police that the main door of the house was unlocked and two mobiles and a motorcycle was missing.The Haibowal police initially lodged a murder case against unidentified persons on Friday. By Saturday, the police registered a case against seven people and arrested three main accused.Commissioner of Police Sukhchain Singh Gill said, "Sudeekshan and her lover Tarun were the mastermind of killing. Kuldeep was a drunkard and would beat her wife and daughter daily in inebriated condition. Kuldeep was also against the relation of his daughter with Tarun. About one and a half year ago, Kuldeep had also broken Sudeeksha's mobile to made her stop talking to Tarun. However she continued her relation with Tarun discreetly.""Later, about four months ago, Tarun and Sudeeksha hatched a plan to kill Kuldeep. The duo planned to rope in Geeta for which the girl told her mother that her father molests her. Since Kuldeep was a drunkard and would beat them often, Geeta thought the allegation of her daughter is true," added Gill.When Tarun and Sudeeksha hatched the conspiracy to kill Kuldeep, Geeta supported them.The official told that earlier on July 18, Tarun came to their house to kill Kuldeep. However, he developed cold feet and returned. Then he contacted his friend Sagar, a habitual criminal, and gave the contract to Kuldeep for Rs 2.5 lakh.In the wee hours on Friday, around 3am, Sagar along with his three accomplices came to Kuldeep's house. As per the plan, the main door was unlocked and drunk Kuldeep was sleeping.The accused first strangulated Kuldeep with a dupatta and towel and then slit his throat with a sickle. The police have recovered the dupatta and the towel while the sickle is yet to be r ecovered.Further, CP Gill said Geeta was not aware that Sudeeksha was falsly accusing her father of molestation.
