MC to start filling Ludhiana potholes from Monday

Ludhiana: The city residents will have to wait till Monday for getting rid of deep potholes on the city roads as civic officials will start filling the potholes from then.After heavy pouring, the roads have developed potholes and have been waterlogged proving dangerous for people, especially two-wheeler drivers. She added that the city will become smart only when the MC can improve water, sewerage, roads and street lights.While confirming the same, mayor Balkar Sandhu said people have been raising the demand of potholes from many areas. So he has asked the officials to at least fill the potholes. He said due to ongoing rainy season the bitumen plant of MC is closed and moreover it is not advisable to construct the roads in monsoon but as soon as the rainy season will be over they will repair the roads on priority basis. He accused the MC of not being able to find a solution to the issues.Reiterating the same, a resident of Civil City, Kamlesh Jain, said instead of the big bridges and major projects, the MC should ensure basic infrastructure for the residents.

The officials blamed that due to water stagnation for long hours, roads have been damaged.Meanwhile, a resident of Haibowal Shakti Sharma, said at some locations roads have been damaged so badly that commuters run a risk of damaging their vehicles due to the potholes.
