Several trains continue arriving late

Darbhanga-Amritsar Jan Nayak Express, Amritsar-Howrah Mail, Kolkata-Jammu Tawi Express, and Lohit Express — all arrived late by more than four hours. Amrapali Express from Katihar to Amritsar arrived late by around one hour at 10.15am, instead of 9.20am. LUDHIANA: Trains coming from eastern India continued to arrive late by several hours at the city railway here on Sunday, angering passengers waiting for them on different platforms.Passengers waiting for trains from Mumbai, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh seemed more impatient, as these trains were the most delayed. Tata Muri Express from Tata Nagar to Jammu Tawi arrived late by seven hours at 12.15pm, instead of 5.15am.” Jansewa Express from Saharsa to Amritsar also arrived late by seven hours at 1.35pm, instead of 6.35am.Station superintendent Ashok Salaria stated: “With the ongoing construction work of limited height subways on the Northern Railway route, several long-route trains arrived late by several hours here on Sunday, which left passengers stranded for several hours in different platforms. Another reason for the delay was the heavy rush due to summer vacations, as several summer specials were started by Northern Railway for the convenience of passengers.”An enquiry official stated: “Himgiri Express from Howrah to Amritsar was the most delayed train, arriving in Ludhiana almost 15 hours late at 10.45am, instead of 8pm the previous night, while the Amritsar-Howrah Express from Howrah to Amritsar arrived late by over seven hours at 12.50pm, instead of 5.40am.
