Weather to turn dry, temperature high

LUDHIANA: As rain lashed the city for the second consecutive day, weather remained pleasant in Ludhiana as temperatures remained below normal. The maximum (day) temperature in the city was recorded at 31.6 degrees Celsius while the minimum (night) temperature was recorded at 24.4 degrees Celsius, both were a degree less than the normal. It is expected to bring down the temperatures during that time,” said director of Met department, Chandigarh, Surender Paul. But today, we played cricket in the park as the weather was awesome,” said Rohit Sharma , a fifteen-year-old cricket lover. For two days, we didn’t use air-conditioners and even had to switch off fans during night as weather turned cold.

The Met department has forecast dry conditions for next two days followed by wet weather.According to Met department, Ludhiana witnessed 18.4mm rainfall 8.30am on Tuesday to 8.30am on Wednesday, whereas 3mm rain was recorded between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Wednesday. The effect of rainfall, especially on the second consecutive day, reflected on the temperatures. The maximum (day) temperature in the city was recorded at 31.6 degrees Celsius while the minimum (night) temperature was recorded at 24.4 degrees Celsius, both were a degree less than the normal. The relative humidity in city was on higher side at 89% , around 9% more than normal.As the residents enjoyed the pleasant weather prevailing in the city for the last two days, Met department has a bad news for them.“Dry weather is expected in the city for the next two days. Temperatures might rise during this time. However, moderate rainfall is likely around August 10 and the same might be recorded around 40mm. It is expected to bring down the temperatures during that time,” said director of Met department, Chandigarh, Surender Paul. He added that humidity is likely to remain high in the coming days.The Met department website meanwhile predicts a rise in maximum temperature to 34 degrees Celsius till Friday and minimum temperature is expected to rise to 26 degrees Celsius till Saturday.The residents are meanwhile happy with the weather in city. “Three days ago, it was very hot and humid. But the weather changed abruptly for better. For two days, we didn’t use air-conditioners and even had to switch off fans during night as weather turned cold. Even during the day, we didn’t feel hot and humid,” said Harish Jain, a trader of Civil Lines Teenagers are also enjoyed the weather prevailing in the city.“Few days ago, I wouldn’t even think of going out during the day because of hot and humid conditions. But today, we played cricket in the park as the weather was awesome,” said Rohit Sharma , a fifteen-year-old cricket lover.
