Road rage leads to carjacking, two booked

LUDHIANA: Two men allegedly carjacked a trader and his friends on Thursday morning, while the trio were on their way to the Radha Swami Satsang Centre on Hambran Road. My friends intervened to rescue me, but one of them hit me with his ‘kada’ on the head and I started bleeding. In the meantime, his friend sat inside the car and started it. However, the accused pushed me out of the car and escaped. Assistant commissioner of police (ACP-Civil Lines) Dharam Pal said: “The accused escaped with the car and reached Haibowal police station to lodge a complaint against the car occupants for hitting them and thrashing them.

LUDHIANA: Two men allegedly carjacked a trader and his friends on Thursday morning, while the trio were on their way to the Radha Swami Satsang Centre on Hambran Road. The accused first thrashed the trio, as their car hit their bike , and then escaped with their Hyundai I-20 car, said police.In his complaint to the police, Surinder Singh (55) — a trader from Mohalla Fatehgarh — said he and his friend Raj Kumar of the same locality, and Rakesh Kumar of Civil City were going to Radha Swami Satsang Centre on Hambran Road in his I-20 car. At around 6.15am, after reaching near KVM School, they decided to go to the filling station to refuel the tank, but the filling station nearby was closed. As they were reversing the car, it slightly hit the bike of the accused, and as a result, one of them fell down on the road.“We rushed out of the car to pick them up, when the youth started thrashing me. My friends intervened to rescue me, but one of them hit me with his ‘kada’ on the head and I started bleeding. In the meantime, his friend sat inside the car and started it. I rushed towards the car and sat on the front seat. However, the accused pushed me out of the car and escaped. His accomplice, meanwhile, fled with the motorcycle,” added Surinder Singh.Thereafter, Surinder’s friends arranged a vehicle and took him to a private hospital. Assistant commissioner of police (ACP-Civil Lines) Dharam Pal said: “The accused escaped with the car and reached Haibowal police station to lodge a complaint against the car occupants for hitting them and thrashing them. However, later when the police verified, it was identified that it was actually the youths who had thrashed the trio.”Division No.8 police have registered a case against Ashish Kumar, a resident of Preet Vihar (Jagatpuri); and Arvinder Kumar (28) of Vijay Nagar (Haibowal), under sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restrain), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 379-B (snatching and use of force), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 34 (act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.
