Ex-trainer of gym arrested with heroin

Ludhiana: Ludhiana police Special Task Force (STF) arrested a former trainer of a gym with heroin worth Rs 50 lakh on Tuesday.Paramjeet Singh, 30, a resident of Gopal Nagar, Tibba Road, was nabbed on a tip-off. After 100gm heroin was found hidden in its seat, scooterist Paramjeet Singh was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act,” said Ludhiana STF in-charge sub-inspector Harbans Singh.The sub-inspector said Paramjeet was a school dropout. At the gym, he became friends with a client, who introduced him to drugs six months ago.”As he became an addict, Paramjeet found his salary insufficient to meet his drug needs. “The client asked him to peddle drugs to fund his addiction. His first deal was fixed in the gym. While introducing him to the trade, the client not only supplied heroin to Paramjeet in the gym, but also gave an address to deliver it,” the sub-inspector added.As he started raking in money from the drug trade, Paramjeet quit his gym job five months ago.On his modus operandi, the sub-inspector said, “Paramjeet never used his vehicle for peddling drugs. He told that he booked cabs to deliver the contraband to avoid getting traced. And every time, he booked these from a different location.
