LUDHIANA: Threatening to kill her four-month-old son, a resident of Amritsar allegedly raped his friend’s wife in a Ludhiana-based hotel.The Division Number 1 police have booked the Amritsar resident after the woman lodged a complaint.The 22-year-old complainant, who is also from Amritsar, claimed that the accused also threatened her to keep mum, but when he started to pressurize her to develop physical relations with him, she narrated the incident to her husband and got an FIR lodged.Police quoting the FIR said on September 3, the woman went to Radha Soami Dera Beas with her son following an argument with her husband. There she called her husband’s friend to help her reconcile with her husband.The complainant alleged that the accused asked her to reach the railway station, claiming that he would bring her husband along. However, he came alone and told the woman that her husband had refused to come.“He made me sit in his car, assuring that he would take me home. But later he said that he had some work. In the meantime, he received a call and told me not to interrupt him during his telephonic conversation. He drove the car to Ludhiana and booked a room in a hotel. At the reception of the hotel, the accused introduced me as his wife. He told me they would return to Amritsar in two hours,” the complainant alleged.The complainant said the accused returned a little later in an inebriated condition and then attempted to rape her. “When I did not give in, the accused held my son by his neck and threatened to kill him if I resisted. I gave up following which the accused raped me,” she added.She also alleged that the accused threatened her against sharing about the incident with anyone and dropped her at her place.The complainant added that on September 10 when she was in the market, the accused followed her and started pressurizing her to develop physical relations with him. However, she narrated the whole incident to her husband and later she lodged a complaint against him.ASI Baljit Singh, investigating officer, said the police have registered a case under Sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC against the accused and is probing the veracity of the allegations made in the complaint.
