Duo hires 2 others to sit for their railway exam; all arrested

AMBALA: Parao police here have arrested four persons for cheating during an exam of Indian Railways. The matter is being investigated and we have managed to arrest two more of Anupgarh village in Jind — the actual candidates. The investigation is ongoing. The cops first arrested the accused imposters on the day of the exam.“A case under Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 419 (punishment for cheating by personation), and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the two imposters — Sarmad and Pradeep — who were rounded up on the day of the exam. The accused — Sonu and Jasmer Singh of Anupgarh village in Jind — had hired two imposters — Sarmad Wani of Varsha Nagar in Srinagar and Pradeep of Patwaria Sarai, Vasant Vihar in Delhi — to take ‘Group-D’ railway examination in their place.On the complaint of the venue observer, Gulshan Kumar, the district police registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code .

We cannot disclose any more details,” said investigation officer, assistant sub-inspector Suresh.On September 28, the officials of Parao police station received a complaint from a venue observer of ION Digital Zone, Shahpur in Ambala, who alleged that during the second session of the examination, he had found two imposters sitting in examination hall in place of the actual candidates.The imposter Sarmad was giving exam in place of Sonu and Pradeep was representing Jasmer.A TOI team tried to contact senior railway officials of the Ambala division, but they refused to provide any information.
