LUDHIANA: Taking a tough stand in the October 10 incident when income tax officials of Ludhiana faced heavy resistance from a group of businessmen and workers during a survey being conducted by the officials at Veer Enterprises (a garment manufacturing company) located at Bahadurke Road.An FIR has been registered against 43 persons under various sections of IPC including 353, 186, 332, 379B, 109, 201, 506 at Salem Tabri police station. In the FIR three businessmen and BJP leader Tarun Jain Bawa (president of Bahadurke Road textile and knitwear association), Amarjit Singh Dua and Amanpreet Singh Dua (owners of Dua enterprises) have been named as the main conspirators and have been accused of leading the groups of businessmen and workers to obstruct the survey of the department along with instigating them to threaten and intimidate the officers.According to the complaint, On October 10 at 12.50pm when a team of I-T department along with police party, led by Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax (ACIT) Sardar Lal Meena entered the premises of Veer enterprises for survey, Amarjeet Singh Dua and Amanpreet Singh Dua leading and instigating 30-40 unknown persons entered the factory and started threatening the I-T team with dire consequences if the team did not vacate the premises.
