Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi disappointed with Bengaluru–London flight

Instead of implementing the proposal I had given in Delhi to replace Heathrow to Newark flights with Heathrow to Amritsar, Air India have chosen to operate Heathrow to Bengaluru. JALANDHAR: UK MP Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi , who has been consistently lobbying for direct flights between London Heathrow and Amritsar, has expressed disappointment that Air India has chosen to operate Heathrow to Bengaluru flight.“I am disappointed that after discussing this persistently for more than a year at high level, we would by now have the good news from the Indian government and Air India of direct flights between Amritsar and London Heathrow. “I’m hoping that the prominent Punjabi politicians I have met during recent visits to India will fight for the rights of Punjabis (in the Punjab and diaspora) by arguing in Delhi for this route to be quickly reintroduced,” British Airways already operates that route and therefore Air India will be trying to compete with BA, which I believe will not prove successful,” he said while speaking to TOI on Sunday. He held that direct Amritsar route was not operated by any other airline and would be a sure success, just as the Birmingham to Amritsar route proved this year.
