Ludhiana: CGST commissionerate busts tax evasion network

LUDHIANA: The central GST commissionerate Ludhiana on Wednesday conducted a surprise check on Khanna-Mandi Gobindgarh Road and Nabha-Amloh Road amid a crackdown against the tax evaders who are using modus operandi of generating e-way bills for the transit of goods and later canceling it after delivery.In an action which was conducted covertly early on Wednesday as per orders of GST commissioner, Ashutosh Baranwal department’s teams were able to intercept iron scrap laden 17 trucks which were transporting the goods by using fake bills and recovered GST and penalty of Rs 18.14 lakh on the spot from the owners of the goods.A team comprising of deputy commissioner Daljit Kaur and supridentants PK Kaura, Bhupinder Singh, Jatinder Saini , and Sanjeev Sharma intercepted 9 trucks carrying old Iron Scrap on Bhadson-Khanna Road and 8 trucks on Khanna-Mandi Gobindgarh Road which were carrying goods worth Rs 51 lakh without genuine bills.
