LUDHIANA: Khanna Police on Wednesday recovered 4kg heroin from a woman and her driver at a checkpoint on GT road in Ludhiana on Wednesday.The accused were identified as 35-year-old Shivangi of Raithar in Mizoram 's Aizwal and Anand Kumar of Anandpur Road Maksooda in Punjab's Jalandhar, who works as a driver."Police has launched a special campaign against the drug trafficking and misdemeanours," said Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya, adding that the police team saw an Etios Car, registration number PB-08-CM-5711 coming from the Gobindgarh side while checking the suspected vehicles and persons at a checkpoint near Pristine Mall on G.T. Road Khanna (Alour) on Wednesday morning.He said that the driver and her accomplice tried to flee away with the car, but Police Party nabbed them.SSP said that during frisking, 4kg heroin was recovered from their possession. He added that during questioning, the accused revealed that they had brought the consignment of heroin from Mike of Nivada in Nigeria who lives in Delhi and were going to deliver it to Gurbhej Singh of Seecha in Sultanpur Lodhi and Kala of Totiya.The police officer said that Shivangi told police that she had delivered the consignment of heroin to Gurbhej and kala in Punjab nine times in the last three months. He added that the accused were booked under sections 21-29/61/85 of NDPS Act at Khanna police station and were arrested after the recovery.SSP said that apart from Shivangi and Anand, Mike, Gurbhej and Kala have also named as accused in the case and will be arrested. He added that the accused Shivangi had come in contact with Mike in Delhi and they were together into the drug trade.Police officials said that the accused had hidden the consignment of heroin in boxes of Juice.
