Swine flu patient dies in Patiala

PATIALA: A patient suffering from swine flu has died at Government Rajindra Hospital in Patiala . Swine flu can lead to serious problems like pneumonia and lung infection. The test samples of the patient were sent to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh. She was admitted to the hospital on Friday and reported positive for the flu on Monday.This is the first death reported in the state this season. The patient, a 40-year-old woman, was a resident of Mansa district.

The test samples of the patient were sent to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh."Exact cause of the patient's death will only be confirmed after going through her medical records. Even though, medicines were provided to the patients and all precautionary measures were taken, the woman could not survive," said Gagan Grover state nNodal officer.He added that in a bid to avoid the infection people must wash their hands frequently and avoid going in the crowd often.Swine flu is also known as H1N1 flu. Swine flu can lead to serious problems like pneumonia and lung infection. It can also make one's diabetes and asthma worse.If you have symptoms like shortness of breath, severe vomiting, pain in belly or dizziness, you must seek medical help.
