Sukhbir Singh Badal (File) Sukhbir Singh Badal (File) Sukhbir Singh Badal can be a good manager, a great businessman, but he is definitely not a good leader, expelled Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Sewa Singh Sekhwan said this as he started his ‘Akali Dal Bachao’ campaign from the SAD president’s constituency Jalalabad on Sunday. “This is the reason that serious reforms need to be made in SAD. The idea behind launching this campaign from Jalalabad is to remove fear from the minds of Akalis who want to speak out against the wrongdoings within the party, but are hesitating. We have started the campaign from the constituency of Sukhbir to spread this message that true Akalis need not to fear,” he said. Sekhwan visited Arniwala block of Jalalabad where over 50 Akalis left the party two days back, saying that SAD had deviated from its path. Sekhwan honoured them, besides attending akhand path. He said SAD is a historic party and elders made it through many sacrifices. “In 1920, they started Gurdwara Sudhar Lehar from where SAD was formed. We want to see the same old face of the party yet again. The present president has no knowledge about maryada (honour).” Asked whether a new party is on cards, he said they are not forming any, rather trying to reform the existing one, which is on the verge of collapse, as the president is not bothered to save it. Justifying why he remained quiet all this time he said, “I had spoken about falling panth values in my 2010 speech before SAD patron Parkash Singh Badal. Even in 2014, I had predicted poor poll result because the president (Sukhbir) preferred votes rather than panth. He spent Rs 93 lakh of SGPC on advertisements to justify pardon to Dera Sacha Sauda head who is a rapist baba and is behind the bars now, while taking the pardon back later. This poor result of only 15 seats of SAD in Vidhan Sabha was written on the wall.” He added the picture of SAD today is of a sand mafia, many other mafias. “This needs to be changed…for this we all like-minded Akalis have started working hard.
