PATIALA: The court of Judicial Magistrate of First Class (JMIC), Inderjit Singh, on Friday convicted three women, including a daughter of a former superintendent of Punjab police, in a land grab case and sentenced them to two years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 2,500 each.As per the court documents, Sukhvinder Kaur, daughter of a former SP, along with her friend Ratandeep Kaur and sister Amandeep Kaur, allegedly grabbed a plot located at Jhill village on the Patiala-Sirhind road, which was in the name of Anant Jot Singh.Anant Jot had bought the plot in 1990 after which he shifted to Odisha . In 2008, the three women allegedly took over the plot and sold it to one Vikas Bhardwaj. When Anant Jot got to know about the land grab, he asked his brother Tejinder Singh Banga, who lives in Patiala, to file a suit for the possession before a Patiala court and later he filed a police complaint against the accused. It was alleged that Sukhvinder Kaur along with Ratandeep Kaur and Amandeep Kaur managed to forge documents and sell the land to Vikas Bhardwaj for Rs 14 lakh.Vikas later took a loan from a bank on the said property, but after he got to know that the land sold to him did not belong to the three women, he stopped paying the instalments to the bank and the bank initiated the process to auction the property.However, Anant Jot paid the loan amount to avoid further legal complication.On Friday, the court found that the evidence put on record clearly showed that the plot sold to Vikas Bhardwaj belonged to Anant Jot and the three women had forged documents. The court awarded the three women 2 years in jail and a fine of Rs 2,500 each.
