Patiala college accused of fleecing Kashmiri students

PATIALA: A number of Kashmiri students on Monday blocked the Patiala-Chandigarh highway near Banur. They protested against the management of the Aryan college and accused them of overcharging fee and pressured them to promote the college in Kashmir to attract more admissions.The students alleged that the college management was charging extra money from them in the name of college fee and exam charges. They said the police had initiated action against them at the behest of the college management.Later, a team of the local administration from Rajpura visited the Kashmiri students. They said despite raising their concerns with the college management, nothing was done to solve the issue.Therefore, they were left with no option, but to protest against the college management.Some students said the college management had refused to pay any heed to their legitimate demands. They listened to their grievances and assured them of taking up their issues with the college management, following which the students ended their protest.Meanwhile, the chairman of the managing committee of Aryan college, Anshu Kataria, could not be contacted despite repeated attempts for his comments on the issue.
