Mobile toilets under smart city project to be reality soon

LUDHIANA: The city level technical committee on Thursday gave approval to the allotment of tenders for the construction of mobile toilets to a private firm. After getting approval from city level technical committee the proposal would be sent to the state level technical committee for final approval.Meanwhile other projects that came up for discussions during the meeting included public bike sharing project, junctions improvement project, multi-level car parking project and cycle tracks at Focal Point. The representatives from AECOM, the consultant for LSCL were asked to complete the project reports as soon as possible.LSCL also floated new tenders for 24x7 water supply project in selected areas. Earlier joint tenders had been floated for water supply, sewerage and disposal which were found to be technically wrong. This command and control centre will help in keeping check on various services being provided by MC under one roof.

As many as three companies had participated in the tendering process on Wednesday. The MC had earlier allotted the work to a firm that could not start the work following which the civic body forfeited its earnest money and the tenders were floated again.One of the directors of LSCL (Ludhiana Smart City Limited) Sanjay Goel shared that the mobile toilets are to be constructed at various locations in city for which now tenders have been floated at Rs 3.70 crores. After getting approval from city level technical committee the proposal would be sent to the state level technical committee for final approval.Meanwhile other projects that came up for discussions during the meeting included public bike sharing project, junctions improvement project, multi-level car parking project and cycle tracks at Focal Point. The representatives from AECOM, the consultant for LSCL were asked to complete the project reports as soon as possible.LSCL also floated new tenders for 24x7 water supply project in selected areas. Earlier joint tenders had been floated for water supply, sewerage and disposal which were found to be technically wrong. Now tenders have been floated separately for three projects. Along with this, the construction of building of integrated command and control centre has also been initiated. This command and control centre will help in keeping check on various services being provided by MC under one roof. For internal set up, the MC has floated tenders for hiring agency on Wednesday.The chief executive officer of LSCL cum additional commissioner MC Sanyam Aggarwal said, “The smart city projects have picked up the pace and in the next few months more projects would shape up to turn into a reality.”
