PATIALA: The police here have booked an accused identified as Tarsem Lal of Nabha under sections of the IPC on the complaint of his father-in-law who alleged that Tarsem had set his house on fire on Friday night.The police said that there was a minor dispute going on between Tarsem Lal and his wife and father-in-law. On Friday he went to Ram Adhar's house and landed in a tussle with him. The police added that the arguments took place between the accused and the complainant following which the accused set the house on fire.The police claimed that Tarsem was arrested and produced before the local court which sent him to 14-days judicial custody. The police said that the accused used to work as a labourer but from the last few weeks he was unemployed as he was unable to get a job. The police further said there was already a matrimonial dispute between the complainant's daughter and Tarsem following which the girl had returned to her father's house while the accused was called by the complainant to hold the talks."We have arrested the accused who managed to escape after committing the crime. The complainant and his neighbours tried to douse the fire but in the meanwhile, the complainant had already faced a loss of over Rs 70,000 as many of his belongings were destroyed in fire. The accused had set the house on fire by pouring the kerosene oil on the bed and the other wooden materials lying in the house. The accused is sent to judicial custody however further probe in the matter is on", said the investigating officer (IO) in the case.
