LUDHIANA: Khanna police on Thursday arrested a drug peddler after they recovered 700 grams of opium from him near Ghungrali Rajputan village. The accused was identified as Pappu of village Kattka in Jalalabad of Shahjahanpur (UP) district.SSP Dhruv Dahiya said police have started a special campaign against the Drug Trafficking and misdemeanors. He added that during this campaign Police party was patrolling from Khanna Via Bija to Payal side to check suspicious persons and vehicle.A patrolling team of police spotted a person mysteriously moving near the T-Point of Ghungrali Rajputan village. The person after seeing police threw a polythene bag into the agricultural fields and tried to run away but was nabbed soon.Cops said that after 700 grams of Opium were recovered from the polybag, the accused was booked under the sections 18/61/85 of NDPS Act at Sadar Khanna police station on the basis of which the arrest was made.Police said that the accused is still being questioned and there is a possibility of major disclosures from him.
