5 protesting teachers terminated on grounds of claiming false emergency leaves

This is an injustice done to the teachers.”Notably, the government cited the reasons that teachers were terminated for participating in the indefinite strike in Patiala and had misinformed their respective District Education Officers. They claimed that Education Minister, OP Soni, failed to meet the promise done on December 1 over the demand of regularization without any terms and conditions.

PATIALA: Two days after the teachers had resumed their indefinite strike against the state government over their demands the state government had terminated the services of five teachers for participating in the strike and giving false reasons for their leaves.The teachers had faced the proverbial music on Tuesday while on Monday the police too had registered a case against the protesting teachers under sections of IPC for violation section 144 imposed by the district administration.Among those terminated are the leaders of five unions of Sanjha Adhyapak Morcha who were leading the protest since last year. The Sanjha Adhyapak Morcha state co-conveners including Didar Singh Mudki , Harjeet Singh, Hardeep Toderpur, Bharat Kumar , and Harvinder Singh are five teachers placed under termination.Calling it suppression of democratic voice and the right to protest the teachers had condemned the action by the state government and the police as well. Gagan Ranu, press secretary of Sanjha Morcha said, “We will intensify the agitation and on January 20 a collective protest along with another teachers union will be held in Amritsar. The Education Minister should be thrown out for making false promises with us and then stepping back whereas now a poorest of poor decision has been taken to terminate the services of the teachers. The teachers claimed that education Minister had promised to cancel the transfer orders of the protesting teachers and to review the government decision over bizarre regularisation policy under which the teachers will have to join at a basic monthly salary of Rs 15800 despite the fact a large number of these teachers were getting up to Rs 45000 monthly salary.Among the terminated Hardeep Toderpur, said, “We will fight till we get our rights and the protest will further be intensified. It’s a complete failure of the state government that has been taking unwise and hasty decisions besides making false promises.”
