PATIALA: Police have booked three persons, including a servant of a jewellery shop, for stealing gold ornaments. The cops said that the accused also tried to fool them by concocting a false snatching story.“We have booked two unidentified persons and a resident of Namdhari colony in Samana city of the district, who is an old employee of Sandeep Jain, owner of the jewellery shop.Police said that Sandeep had given 130 grams of gold ornaments to the accused to get them polished from a nearby shop. “The accused returned to Sandeep and said that two unidentified accused robbed him of the ornaments at a gun-point,” the cops said.They added that following the servant’s plaint, the shopkeeper reached them. “He told us that his employee was robbed by some snatchers. We took a serious note of the crime as weapons were involved,” the police said and added that they started their probe by quizzing the servant.“The servant changed his statements many times. His mobile phone was also with him. We then had to be strict with the accused, following which he revealed everything. We arrested him and seized the stolen ornaments,” said investigation officer of the case.
