Bizmen take up groundwater extraction issue with CGWA

This programme will help businessmen in getting awareness about the requirements by CGWA and also will help department in forming policy.”Officials including regional director of CGWA Anoop Nagar, scientist Tarun Mishra and Rakesh Rana explained the process for fulfilling NOC by businessmen for groundwater extraction through a presentation.They also apprised the businessmen about the required documents and other formalities needed for NOC. Ludhiana: City businessmen met Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) officials at Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) office and expressed their concern over harsh formalities required to obtain permissions from CGWA to draw groundwater in industrial units.Upkar Singh Ahuja, president of CICU, said, “NOC for groundwater is one of the burning issue today, heavy penalty of Rs 5,000 per day after March 31 for the non-compliance is creating panic in the industry. Mahesh Khanna, general manager of District Industries Centre, was also present in the meeting and he also heard the problems faced by the businessmen related to permissions on groundwater extraction and also gave useful tips to businessmen.CICU members also suggested CGWA and representatives of other government departments to conduct more such programmes in the region to make businessmen aware about new rules and regulations.The meeting was attended by more than 200 industrialists including Pankaj Sharma, J S Bhogal, Rajnish Bansal, Gautam Malhotra, Inderjeet Singh Navyug, S K Sayal, Anil Bedi, Charanjeev Singh, Vinod Thapar, RC Ralhan, Sanjay Dhiman, GS Kahlon, Rakesh Vij, Jatinder Pal Manchnada, Anuj Seth.
