Khanna: Police on Thursday arrested a man with 9.35kg opium at Sua Puli on Samrala Road in Khanna. They added there is a possibility of major disclosures from him. The accused was identified as Hira Singh of Mari Noabad in Bhikhiwind of Tarn Taran district.Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya said under a special campaign against drug trafficking, police were checking suspected vehicles and persons at a checkpost at Sua Puli.A car bearing registration number PB46Q-0184 coming from Khanna side tried to break the barriers, but cops managed to stop the car and overpower its driver.During search, police recovered 9.35kg opium from a box.The accused was booked under Sections 18, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act at Khanna city one police station.Police officials said Hira Singh had brought the contraband from Ashwani Kumar of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh and was going to supply it to persons in Fatehgarh Sabhra in Jira of Firozepur and Gharayala Punia in Patti of Tarn Taran.Hira revealed that he had supplied the consignment of 4.5kg of opium to same persons last month.Cops raided the places to arrest the other accused.
