Man duped of Rs 90,000 through OLX advertisement

The Sahnewal police have registered a case against unidentified fraudster and initiated investigation. He claimed that he is an army person and wanted to sell his Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle. 30,000 in cash on the pretext of selling an Apple iPhone X phone through OLX.

LUDHIANA: In third such incident in past 9 days, a fraudster has duped another city resident of Rs 90,000 on the pretext of selling Royal Enfield motorcycle, on cheap price, through online mobile application OLX The case has been registered at police station Jamalpur on the statement of Sahil Kumar of Ram Nagar of Bhamiyan Kalan.Complainant Sahil Kumar said that he wanted to buy a royal enfield motorcycle. He found one on OLX at a cheap price, in July 2018. He contacted the seller who introduced himself as Ram Kumar of Deoghar of Jharkhand. He claimed that he is an army person and wanted to sell his Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle. The deal settled in Rs. 90,000 and he transferred payment to the accused through Paytm.He alleged that after getting money the accused started delaying the delivery of motorcycle. The accused kept telling him that he will send the bike, but after some days he stopped answering his calls.The Investigating officer form police station Jamalpur, ASI Rajinder Kumar, said that a case under sections 420 (cheating) and 465 (Punishment for Forgery) of IPC has been registered against the accused. The police on Saturday have registered a case following investigation.Earlier, on February 13, the Focal point police have booked an unidentified fraudster for duping Ishant Kapoor of Jamalpur Colony of Rs. 10,000 on the pretext of selling Apple iPhone 7 to him on OLX. Ishant Kapoor said he transferred Rs. 10,000 to the accused through Paytm, but the accused did not handover phone to him.Prior to that, on February 9 a fraudster duped a city resident of Rs. 30,000 in cash on the pretext of selling an Apple iPhone X phone through OLX. When investigated the buyer found that the fraudster has created his account on the site in the name of a dead person. The Sahnewal police have registered a case against unidentified fraudster and initiated investigation.
