Auto gang loots elderly man of Rs 87K that he borrowed for son's treatment

LUDHIANA: An auto gang targeted an elderly man and robbed him off Rs 87,000 when he was on the way to hospital where his son is admitted.The Division no 8 police after receiving the compliant has registered a case under sections of 379 (snatching) and 34 (act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC against three unidentified accused In his compliant, Surjit Singh, 62, of Raikot Road, Jagroan told that his 36-year-old son Gupreet Singh is admitted in Hero Heart DMC Hospital. He was operated five days ago and for his treatment he needed money."I am a labourer. I borrowed money from my friends and relatives and arranged Rs 87,000. On Tuesday morning I took a bus from Jagraon and reached at Bharat Nagar chowk. From there I got an auto to reach hospital. Immediately after me, two men also got inside the auto after which driver moved ahead. When we reached near police line, two accused, who were posing as passengers, started pushing me away. Meanwhile the auto driver stopped the auto stating that it has sustained a technical snag. As soon as I alighted form auto the driver with two aids escaped from there. On checking I found the cash missing" he said.Surjit Singh immediately sounded police following which cops form Division no 8 police station reached on spot.Surjit SIngh said, "My son is getting discharge in two-three days and I do not have money to pay. I borrowed that money which accused have escaped with."The Investigating officer form police station Division no 8 ASI Manjeet Singh said that the police have got the registration number of auto.
