JALANDHAR: If Sikh activists are receiving appreciation for helping distressed Kashimri students , who are facing adverse reactions following Pulwama terror attack , they are also getting brickbats for their gestures. If there were offers from Kashmiri businessmen or professional to offer services to Sikhs at subsidised rates or even for free, the gesture of Sikhs also attracted adverse comments from some others. A video of Sikh activists serving tea to Kashmiri students at Gurudwara Singh Sheedan Sohana , Mohali, which was the first to shelter Kashmiri students after they started facing adverse reactions, has been shared by netizens on Facebook.The video was widely shared with a comment in Hindi stating “Shelter to Jihadis in Gurudwaras? Looking away from their own history will cost Sikhs very dearly.” While some addressed Sikhs as brothers though strongly disagreeing with their gesture, some abused them and even called them Khalistanis. However, the video with adverse comments was later removed.Sikh group 'Khalsa Aid', which has been arranging transportation for Kashmiri students from Chandigarh and Dehradun to Jammu and till Thursday had sent around 310 students, said that it also received obnoxious calls for helping Kashmiris. Apart from facing criticism on Twitter, quite a few called up our helpline numbers and objected to their helping “traitors”. “They said earlier we helped Rohingiya Muslims who had reached Bangladesh and now we are helping Kashmiri Muslims,” said Khalsa Aid Asia Paficif director Amarpreet Singh.
